Orca LiveCams:
San Juan Islands (near Friday Harbor) – View the LiveCams below to potentially see an Orca pod live!
Orca LiveCam1 (Blackney Pass):
From OrcaLab HQ, this cam brings wide views of Blackney Pass, one of the main travel routes for Northern Resident orca families during the summer and fall. It also monitors humpback whales and Steller sea lions. Catch spectacular sunrises all year round from beyond the mountains of Vancouver Island.
Orca LiveCam2:
Cracroft Point, at the juncture of Blackney Pass and Johnstone Strait, is one of the most common thoroughfares for orcas, and a location where they spend time foraging. Orca families often pass close to Cracroft Point as they head further out into the Strait.
Orca LiveCam3:
The camera at Critical Point is mounted on a steep, mossy hillside overlooking beautiful Robson Bight, an ecological reserve established to protect key orca habitats. It provides intimate views of orcas in a key part of their critical habitat as they forage, hunt, socialize, and relax in this incredibly stunning and meditative natural setting.
Whale watchers and recreational boaters are excluded from the reserve, and British Columbia Parks maintains a warden program to help ensure the orcas are free from disturbance. The Critical Point Camera thus provides a rare opportunity to view orcas as they conduct their daily lives in the wild. OrcaLab’s underwater hydrophone at Critical Point adds a dramatic acoustic dimension as the orcas hunt the big Chinook salmon that are so important to their diet.
